UI development

  • txtwav - some weird text animations the internet deserves ;) img txtwav
  • Shave — a modern javascript plugin that truncates text within an html element. img shave
  • ScrollReveal — easy scroll animations for web and mobile browsers. img scroll
  • Next time setting up a new project I might as well try Facebook’s one-dependency, zero-config Create React App framework. I’m intrigued. img facebookcreate
  • Add simple (animated) decorative lines with Line Maker. img lines
  • Reactive animations + CSS variables. Although it’s kind of hard to grasp, seems like a legit way to do some powerful animation tricks. Wish I could see this talk and not just the slides. Something to keep in mind. img animations

UI Design

  • Redesigning Chrome Desktop, a thourough case study of the recent Chrome Browser redesign – great to look at processes of others and validate yours. img chrome
  • Smartlook claims to record everything visitors do on your site for free. Not sure where’s the catch but sounds good next time I’ll have to do some testing ;) img smartlook

  • Kap, an open source video screen capture tool for Mac. Works wonders. Good LICEcap replacement. img kap

Staying healthy

  • Disconnect a pretty sweet reminder of the importance of going off the grid every now and then:

I say disconnect. Even if just for a few hours. Unplug. Turn off your phone and wifi. Focus. Write. Practice. Create. That’s what’s rare and valuable these days.

Digital nomads

  • Not sure where to go when? Climatelist is a handy little interactive map that will tell you just that. It matches climate data to time of year to help you pick your next destination.
  • From The Villains of Remote Work:

Working remotely is awesome. It's how DNSimple operates. There's no office, there are no working hours, there is nowhere you need to be, there's no commute, and no line for the bathroom. You're free to work when you want, how you want, and from wherever you want. Working on a small team is awesome. It's how DNSimple operates. There are no deadlines, there are no managers, there is no disconnect between the development and the business, and no HR department. You're free to contribute wherever it's effective, you get to know your coworkers well, you develop your own workflow, and you're held accountable by your commitment to your team and forward progress. There’s a few “buts” and Mark make a great job at diagnosing and getting over them. img villains

Real world’s things

  • Before the Flood — when DiCaprio explores the topic of climate change, and discovers what must be done today to prevent the catastrophy. Lets all give it a whirl and start doing things responsivelly, shall we? img beforetheflood
