UI development

  • Frontend Conference happened last week in Zurich. Video recordings are already online from both: Design and Tech tracks.
  • Tuk Tuk framework, says it is not yet another Bootstrap but fails to prove so. Looks solid, though honestly, I still believe that all one needs is a good grid system, all the rest is to be built ad-hoc.
  • Font Awesome introduced stacked icons. Hey, I will try it out sooner or later.
  • More Icon Stacks theory over at Conor Muirhead’s site.
  • Should I ever need to add some funky animations to a site: Animate.css.
  • Not that I’ve seen them all, but Bourbon has a well-thought grid system with both guttered and gutter-less variations.
  • Add or remove responsive classnames to the document or individual elements: MediaClass by Jonathan Neal. This is a game-changer.
  • Webfont WPO: clean your webfont from unnecessary letters to reduce font file size with Subsetter.

Typography and Lettering

  • Very nice portfolio of lettering and type works by Martina Flor.
  • Typografik Anatomi, a free to download .PDF poster representing the anatomy of letters in Turkish by Turkish Typography Society.

  • I have a thing for apps that I understand and get to use straight away. No overviews, no launchers, no registrations. Just the (nicely done) product: Stypi.
